My Leather Life, The Leather Quilt Project, The Manège

This vest is the second vest I owned, having started with a very cheap, stiff biker vest that has since been retired. I bought this vest a few years ago (2023), having decided I wanted something that fit my personality a bit more (I never could resist popping a collar now and then ha!). I learned to sew my own patches on for this vest and it would be a gateway for me into leather working. Despite having been in M/s for 20 years and Leather for over a decade, Id never really committed myself to wearing a vest until recently.

My right side has my name- given name vs scene name Im known for. I felt it important that my Leather persona - me - stand on its own from my kink persona of Pony Girl Ginger. Over my name on the upper right lapel is the leather flag. On the lower lapel are two of my labors of love (in addition to My Leather Life): The Leather Quilt and The Manège.

The Leather Quilt pin was gifted to me by Master Varii and slave neill, two people I think the world of. Master Varii has deeply feuded my love for Leather history and was welcoming to me when I asked if I could bring the quilt to life digitally with a new website: www.leatherquilt.com. Our history as a tribe and culture means the world to me and the Quilt is such a moving, real piece of of history. Seeing the way our Leather groups thread together figuratively through history really does make the cultural significance of Leather so visceral. Im looking forward to the coming years of caring for the quilt physically, helping hang it, helping tend to its squares and more.

The Manège (www.themanege.org) pin is my school for pony play. I get the joy every year of teaching and hosting classes to thousands of people worldwide on what is, at its most basic, adult pretend. And its awesome. The pony community is one of the most caring, welcoming communities in kink and its my pleasure to meet and greet new pony players. The Manège is an online resource as well as a home for the school, as well as the launchpad for PONY CON, the annual pony convention I host every year with beginning to advanced topics in pony play. In 2025 it will be in its 3rd year. The Manège is always free and always accessible virtually, something that is important to me and that I am privileged to provide.

Over my heart are two patches: the pony play flag for the group who took me in and made me family, and the patch I had made for my first pony play herd/club I was a part of when I lived in Seattle. On the top left lapel is my M/s flag pin, over my heart, just where my relationship belongs.

On the lower lapel are my friendship pins. One from the M/s retreat my Leather Moms, Liza and Jody, host, representing them and the family that adopted me. “Our Sanctuary is 80 acres and a shovel” is one of my favorite pins, belonging to my Aunt Varii and slave neill. The North American Pony Trainer 2020 pin from pony dad Tromper. Mr Ladybug’s Lounge who graciously hosted my early pony play class. And the pin I was given for attending the 10th anniversary of the Cavalcade at Folsom.

The back of my vest is mostly blank save for a small, black leather patch at the top with “Leather Pony” hand stitched by my dear friend Korvan to represent those of us who identify as Leather and then some. I wear it with pride.
